Michelle May, LPCIT


As an LPCIT (professional counselor in training), Michelle has had many experiences in the mental health field. Michelle completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, during which she worked with adults with developmental disabilities and mentored children with emotional behavior disorders. She has now moved on to completing her Master’s in Professional Counseling at Concordia University in Mequon, WI. While obtaining her degree, Michelle has worked with children with autism conducting behavior modification and planning, as well as ABA therapy. Michelle has joined the Alarus team as the last step to receiving her degree, followed by obtaining her LPC-IT. Michelle states, “I am most excited about joining a supportive team that puts 100% into helping each client.”

As a counselor, Michelle has adapted her main approach from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, working on linking thoughts and behaviors. Michelle also enjoys using techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy, as well as Person-Centered Therapies. Michelle adapts her therapy models based on the client’s needs and wants, in order to meet clients where they presently are. Michelle’s overall goal is to help support clients in obtaining their goals and living overall happier and healthier lives.
