Maggie Schultz, MS, LPC, NCC • Licensed Professional Counselor

Licensed Professional Counselor

As a licensed professional counselor, Maggie Schultz completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. Additionally, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW–Whitewater. Moreover, she holds certification through the National Board for Certified Counselors. She offers counseling services in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Maggie works with a broad range of individual clients, including children ages 5 and up, adolescents, and adults of all ages. In particular, she has extensive experience supporting young adults through mental health counseling and higher education services. She also brings experience working with children and adults who have physical and cognitive disabilities in a variety of settings.

Currently, Maggie works with many children and adolescents facing life changes and adjustment issues. For example, she treats individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, work-related stress and work-life balance, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and trauma. Although her primary focus is mental health, she has also worked conjointly with clients receiving simultaneous substance use services at Alarus.

Maggie’s counseling approach is integrative and person-centered, meaning she meets clients where they are to address individual needs. Furthermore, her approach remains trauma-informed and strengths-based, grounded in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. Consequently, she views clients as the experts of their own lives and joins them to identify concerns and set therapy goals. Therefore, counseling becomes a collaborative process in which each client’s unique experiences, ideas, and perceptions matter. Importantly, nonjudgment, patience, and humor play key roles in her sessions.

Ultimately, Maggie strives to ensure each person she works with feels validated and respected by providing an accepting environment. In addition, she helps clients draw on personal strengths and encourages them to use these qualities, resources, and skills in daily life. She regards her role as a counselor as an honor and privilege. Finally, she understands that seeking help can be difficult and acknowledges the courage clients show in pursuing counseling.
