Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals who struggle with managing emotions, relationships, and impulsive behaviors. Specifically, DBT combines elements of cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and dialectics. As a result, it teaches skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Ultimately, the goal of DBT is to help individuals develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, enhance interpersonal skills, and build a life worth living.
