Stephen is a Licensed Professional Counselor–In Training (LPC-IT) and Substance Abuse Counselor–In Training (SAC-IT). He works with adults of all ages. He provides both mental health and substance use counseling. Stephen graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. He also earned a Master’s in Professional Counseling there.
His counseling approach is collaborative. He believes his role is not to tell you what to do. Instead, he attunes to your story and helps you identify meaningful goals. Then, he supports you as you move toward those goals. Stephen describes his style as reflective and warm. He aims to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space. He commonly treats anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity concerns, and substance use. His approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and integrative. He draws from evidence-based methods, including CBT, MI, DBT, and ACT. He also has a strong interest in existential therapy. Consequently, he focuses on how people make meaning from their experiences. He explores how meaning shapes identity, direction, and growth.
He primarily offers in-person sessions. Additionally, he provides telehealth when appropriate. Whether you seek support, growth, or meaningful change, he values building a strong therapeutic relationship. That relationship becomes the foundation for the work you do together.
